Expunction & Nondisclosure
Expunction vs. Expungement
The term "expunction" means the act of expunging; erasure as in to strike out, cross out or blot out.
In the State of Texas, it refers to a set of laws that allow records to be wiped clean of certain arrests and charges under certain conditions. It allows starting with a clean slate under certain conditions for certain arrests and charges.
In some states, expunction is called "expungement" as it was in Texas until several years ago when Chapter 55 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure was rewritten, as some would argue, as a more grammatically-correct Latin derivative.
Basically expunction and expungement mean the same thing but expunction is now the correct legal form in Texas.
